The Geological Society of London, established in 1807 and the oldest geological society in the world, has published papers presented at its meetings variously as the Transactions (TGS), the Proceedings, the Quarterly Journal of the GS (QJGS) and the Journal of the GS. The Transactions were published intermittently in two series from 1811 to 1856. (read more) The QJGS, published 1845 to 1973, continued but with colour printing of maps, with particularly good periods in the 1850s-1870s and the 1920s-1930s.
